The Barlow Group is a Sarasota, Florida peer-to-peer assistance program, to help people and their families dealing with depression and bipolar disorder (manic depression). It is a not-for-profit organization with dedicated and caring volunteers getting the word out about this illness, and offering support from people "who have been there". The Barlow Group is affiliated with the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, a nationwide affinity group dispensing significant information for the depressed, bipolar individual and their family and friends.

Manatee Memorial Hospital has a Life Management Center to help adults and their families learn to maneuver successfully through difficult periods in their lives. The Center has an interdisciplinary, team approach involving psychiatrists, mental health professionals, psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists, and activities. It offers an array of inpatient, outpatient and referral services.
