Youth Resiliency Program: Empowering the Next Generation

At Sunshine from Darkness, we ignite the spark of resilience in young lives—because every mind deserves the opportunity to grow, heal, and shine.

Our Youth Resiliency Program equips middle school youth with emotional literacy, practical coping strategies, and mental health awareness to help them confidently navigate life’s challenges. Through guided activities and evidence-informed practices, participants build the skills to manage stress, understand big emotions, and foster lifelong resilience.

While the program benefits all youth, it’s especially impactful for those living with diagnosed mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder—providing accessible tools and safe conversations that help reduce stigma and promote strength.

Integrated, Inclusive & Impactful

Embedded within the summer camp experience, this week-long program reaches youth in a familiar, trusted setting.

Licensed professionals from Herrera Psychology facilitate two-hour workshops that combine expert-led discussion with interactive skill building—creating a space that’s not clinical, but deeply transformative.

By meeting youth where they are—emotionally and physically—we help lay the foundation for resilient futures. One spark at a time.

Program Highlights:

  • Age-appropriate emotional literacy development
  • Coping tools to handle stress and anxiety
  • Open dialogue to foster mental health awareness and reduce stigma
  • Supportive, non-therapeutic environment that encourages help-seeking and connection

Quarterly Touchpoints: Sustaining Growth Beyond the Program

Resilience doesn’t end after a single workshop—it grows through connection, reflection, and continued support. Our Quarterly Touchpoints offer intentional follow-ups for youth who’ve completed our resiliency programs, helping them stay engaged and empowered all year long.

These casual, gatherings provide a safe and welcoming space for:

  • Sharing Progress – Participants reflect on how they’ve applied coping strategies in everyday life
  • Celebrating Wins – Small victories are honored to reinforce confidence and emotional growth
  • Building Community – Youth engage in supportive conversations with peers and facilitators, strengthening bonds
  • Reinforcing Resilience Skills – Tools learned during the program are revisited and expanded, deepening their impact

By keeping young people connected, we help turn short-term learning into long-term wellness—making resilience a shared and lasting experience.

Together, we’re building futures where resilience thrives and stigma fades. One spark at a time.
